Description

This session is cancelled due to speaker conflict. It is rescheduled for Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

One in four students take some of their courses online, and two-thirds do so at a public institution (Allen, Seaman, Pouline, & Straut, 2016). In early November, UMBC celebrates the 10th anniversary of National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) with a series of lunchtime conversations.

Imagine a room that was perfectly outfitted for collaboration -- except the room only exists online. Collaborate Ultra is an integrated web conferencing tool available to faculty through their Blackboard course shells. Schedule virtual office hours and tutoring sessions, invite guest speakers to lecture, or prepare for snow days.

At this session, we will:

  • identify how learning strategies can be applied using Collaborate Ultra

  • consider how Collaborate Ultra can be used to foster interaction and engagement and

  • create a collaborative learning environment using Collaborate Ultra

We will also identify efficiencies and best practices in facilitating online forums, examine use cases, and discuss how Blackboard’s mobile apps can be used in conjunction with Collaborate Ultra.

This is a virtual session. Please register at least 24 hours in advance to ensure you receive the session link.

Guest Speaker: Monica Hill, Client Success Manager, Blackboard
