Congratulations Matt Baker on being selected as the March 2025 DoIT Gritty Award winner!

We are proud to announce that Matt Baker has been awarded the DoIT Gritty Award for his critical support of the New Media Studio. The Gritty Award is in recognition of outstanding work within the Division. Full-time DoIT employees, DoIT student employees, and teams are eligible to be nominated for going above and beyond! Anyone in DoIT can nominate someone for the Gritty by completing this short Gritty Nomination Form.

Since Matt joined the New Media Studio, he has excelled not only in video production, encompassing camera operation, editing, directing, and producing live events, but has also become an integral part of the campus. Dustin Roddy, New Media Studio Manager, shares, “I have never had someone embrace UMBC so quickly (despite holding a BA in Electronic Media and Film from Towson). This shows in his attention to detail and customer service skills.”

Regardless of whether he is working with staff, faculty, coaches, or students, Matt takes significant pride in his work, and it is evident in the consistently high-quality results he delivers. 

Matt was crucial this Fall semester, with over 140 live events and video projects produced by the New Media Studio.
